Back in 2013, Tim made his way to the UK and became an international student at Buckswood School. At Buckswood, Tim successfully completed four A-Levels and IELTS and earned himself a place at Plymouth University where he obtained a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science.
As a student at Buckswood, Tim would often loiter outside the BOSS Office, too scared to enter thanks to the presence of Boss the Dog. Eventually, Tim bumped into Neil, the Director of Buckswood Overseas Summer School (BOSS), outside of the office and asked him if it would be possible to get some work experience through a summer position at BOSS. Eventually Neil said yes and the rest is history.
Tim began his BOSS life as a Summer School Assistant and quickly gained the respect of his colleagues and most importantly, our students. Within his first summer, Tim was promoted to House Tutor thanks to his work ethic, grit, determination to surpass all expectations and his daily delivery of coffee to Sue, the Summer School Registrar, presented beautifully on a silver platter. By the end of his 9 years at BOSS, Tim had earned himself a further promotion to Activity and Excursion Coordinator, successfully implementing and delivering a perfect summer of activities and excursions.
Students loved Tim, he had the ability to engage them and demand respect without necessarily trying. There wasn’t a student at BOSS whose name Tim didn’t know. Not just first name, but also surname and we’re talking over 200 students per week! To this day, every student we meet on our travels asks after Tim and without disappointment, he remembers their name when we unexpectedly FaceTime him for a chat.
Tim is now working as a Software Developer in the financial sector and he is no longer scared of Boss the Dog.
